The Necromancer’s plan 3 – Dreams and Dungeons
The most important task right now—truly the priority—is to finish building this tower. It isn’t quite complete yet. Perhaps I should also construct an underground passage? But that would be a long, arduous undertaking. I’d have to wield the pickaxe myself, carving a tunnel through the earth, then lining it with stone. Good heavens, what a massive amount of work that would be!
A simpler
alternative would be to build a wall of gray brick around the tower. Yes, a
brick perimeter—that’s a solid idea! It would keep intruders out. A fence of
gray brick; anyone who sees it will know to stay away.
And, most
importantly, the top floor needs finishing. I must build a staircase leading
up, along with railings and stone masonry—to ensure I don’t tumble off while
taking in the view. And what a view it is: a forest all around, with a mountain
in the distance. Once the Necromancer’s other towers are complete, they will be
visible too—crowned with beautiful red orbs resting on pedestals. Now that’s a
plan! A true vision! I’ll need a pedestal for the top level as well. I happen
to have one—though it’s rusted and lying somewhere down below. It’s made of
metal, and I’ll need four of them in total. Which means, once again, I’ll have
to venture into the dungeons.
And I
mustn’t forget those three additional towers—the ones yet to be built, brick by
brick. They will be identical to this one; that much is clear. But it will take
time—so much time.
The
Necromancer gazed out the window—a lovely, small opening set into the stone
wall. Outside, the sky remained a deep, dark blue, blanketed by thick, heavy
clouds. One could see the clouds intertwining like plumes of smoke. The entire
sky was a deep, dark blue—a shade the necromancer absolutely adored. What can
you say? An artist at heart, yet a necromancer by trade.
The clouds
were thick, and at times, the wind blew with such speed that one could actually
watch these massive formations shifting across the sky. They took on whimsical
shapes—some looked like cushions—and there were so many of them. You could gaze
upward and weave entire stories, or imagine the sky as an ocean, with yourself
resting deep beneath the surface in your own magical tower.
Wait a
moment—how long has he been sitting here, lost in daydreams? A necromancer,
perched in his tower, dreaming and crafting plans within his own imagination.
Well, there’s no harm in a little daydreaming, is there? After all, he’s
already finished building this tower—one down, three more to go. It’s a good
time to consider the next steps. And then, of course, there’s all the time he’s
spent wandering through the dungeons.
The
dungeons—that’s a story in itself. It’s impossible to say just how much time
has been poured into them. Driven by curiosity, or perhaps just a peculiar
fondness for dungeons—he is a necromancer, after all, and an adventurer in his
own right. He just happens to have a tower of his own now. But the search for
specific items—that’s such a tedious affair. Trudging through identical rooms,
over and over, waiting for a magical chest to appear with exactly the right
properties—it’s enough to wear out one’s old bones. He ought to refuel with
some magic before his next expedition.
On the
other hand, exploring a new level of a dungeon is a pure delight—a true
pleasure for any adventurer. Finding a rare item—ideally a piece of armor or a
weapon; or, in the case of a necromancer, perhaps a magical staff—is a joy like
no other. Or a dagger. Or a spellbook—a book containing magic-enhancing
incantations.
Right here
lies a beautiful dagger. It has a red hilt, studded with a number of inlaid
stones—purely for decoration. A snake is depicted on the hilt—a remarkably
skillful design. It’s a rare piece. The necromancer always carries it with him.
