WinoFly – flies on a white background

WinoFly is a game like Galaga. It even has elements of Windows 3.11. The theme is that the flies are flying. I drew 70 different flies. They're all colorful and bright sprites. Little pictures. I love drawing.

Now there's a menu. A simple one. And a white background. Because it's a Windows 3.11 stylization. And there's a blue bar at the top during gameplay. Like the window title bar in old Windows.

The flies at the top are the most colorful. I spent a lot of time drawing them. I drew them in different ways. I also took a sprite and simply colored it in different ways. I did that too.

I've improved the music module. I've learned how to make it play music. But I haven't yet perfected it for the game format. Sound and music. I added a game menu bar. The interface during the game. It shows lives, level, and points.

It's called something slightly different, just for fun. A level is a portal. Like liminal spaces. Only with bugs and a Windows 3.11 theme. And health is your life force. You fly around here as some kind of bug or insect. It's like flies. But so many different and colorful ones. Magical flies fly there.

You shoot with the spacebar. These blobs. Colored ones. And you can change the zoom here. From 1 to 5. 5x zoom gives you almost the full screen, within 1080p. It's convenient to play a game like this in the office. One minute, the window is small. One minute, it's bigger.

Vertical image format. Like an arcade shooter. I came up with this world. You jump through portals. And there are different flies. Five flies in a line. And the gameplay is like Galaga. But with Windows 3.11 elements. This is a starting point. I'm still programming some things. Engine-related, but for a specific game. So, I haven't figured everything out yet. The game itself is still unclear to me. What details it will contain.

For now, it's just flies. A strange world similar to Windows 3.11. And that's why the background is always white. On all levels, the background is white. Everything is colored, though. The flies come in a variety of colors. They differ in appearance.

An interesting feature. This is screen mode 1. It's very small. And not all the text fits there. And then there's the in-game interface. It's written in letters. Two letters at a time. But that's for screen mode 1. Because it's very small. It's just a joke. And for the other screens, 2-5, everything is already written completely. Everything fits.

The sound is still left over from some previous game. This short buzzing sound. And the music from the previous game is still playing. It's a demonstration that everything works. The flies have life force. Because they're flies. They're living creatures, and I wanted to emphasize that. The portal is the levels. Some kind of structures with a white background. White screens.

I started drawing the flies themselves during the last project. I just decided the graphic style wasn't right. But I liked it. So I put the flies aside. Just right for next time. And now I'm working on them. I'm still trying to learn how to make these types of shooters. Pretty quickly. One game a week. That's the dream. I'm still far from that result. Right now, the idea is pretty good. Flies on a white background. A piece of contemporary art. A little pixel art.
