Blackmores Night – Castles and Dreams – Castles and Dreams in a Magic Crystal
A musical group in which Candice Night and Ritchie Blackmore play. And many other good musicians. One of them even looks like Ritchie Blackmore. Only younger. Maybe it's a musical joke. Or maybe it's true. The other musicians also wear Renaissance clothing. And together with this cheerful company of bards who have passed through the centuries, we are immersed in castles and dreams.
Castles and Dreams. That's the title of one of their discs. It might even be a DVD video. I've been hooked on this combination of words. And I call some of their music renaissance, pop renaissance. Or just that – castles and dreams. They have pop songs and rock compositions. And overall, they lean toward folk rock, to make it simpler. But for me, more artistically, they are pop renaissance and castles and dreams.
I also associate Castles and Dreams with their videos that can be found online. They're cozy, sometimes almost homey glimpses into the musicians' lives. They sing songs. What live performance clips. And the videos themselves. Which are now like VHS tapes. They look really cool. They're even getting better with time. A real renaissance. The Bradys invite you to come and join them.
They have a lot of really cool fantasy videos. Fantasy is another word for them. And they feature Ritchie Blackmore on guitar and Candice Night as a great singer. I don't know the names of the other musicians. But they're great too. Horns and guitars. And a synthesizer. They have it all. Drums, of course. And there are a lot of fantasy videos too. Locked With a Crystal Ball, Just Call My Name, Village Lantern, No Second Chance, Way to Ánadaly, Once in a Million Years, Under the Violet Moon. I also like "I Remember You." There are plenty of these kinds of fantasy videos about castles and the Renaissance, about castles and dreams.
For example, in the video for "Just Call My Name." I remember that scene of planks. Typical weather. With sunshine, either a light or darkish sky. Like summer or a warm autumn. Spring. And Candice Night in a light coffee-colored dress. The musicians are trying to convey very warm feelings in the video for "Village Lantern," as is the entire album. There's also a great pop song, "Street of Dreams." The video for "No Second Chance" is very beautiful, a truly high-quality, dark autumnal film, bright and reddish for autumn, a beautiful film.
Castles and dreams, a whole genre. With unicorns and fantasy. If a unicorn hasn't been found yet, then a white horse. And a magic ball. And there's definitely a real castle in the video for "Locked Within a Crystal Ball." This video is a shining example of the whole group. Fantasy. Beautiful fantasy. Something so magical. There's something dark about dungeons and dragons. Something about castles. And dreams. And magic. A very strong fantasy and magical video. A magical treasure on a VHS tape.
The video
begins with a ship sailing into the sky. Like Final Fantasy. That was there
too. Ships flying in the sky. With sails. The sky is gloomy with waves. Only
clouds. Big, dark, thick clouds. The ship moves upward toward the sun. At a
sharp angle.
And then we
are transported to a fantasy fairy tale. A castle. There's a whole story there.
To excellent pop renaissance music. It sounds lively, like the Renaissance has
come to life. And everything sounds cheerful. Like pop rock music. There's a
beautiful electric guitar interlude. The musicians also play a violin in the
video. They play ancient instruments like a guitar. The rhythm section is good,
quite like pop rock. The best genre to listen to.
It sounds
like a modern pop-rock song. And it's Renaissance in all its fantasy and
fairytale beauty. Ritchie Blackmore doesn't forget to play beautiful lyrical
melodies on the electric guitar. The rhythm section is constant. It's a very
captivating track. Dense. And draws you into a world of fantasy. The keyboards
are prominent. The song also has a lyrical and dreamy section.
The video
tells a whole story. A fantasy saga. The best kind. Candice Night in a blue
dress. White hair. Singing. And encountering supernatural forces. Or rather,
magical forces. Can you see the future hidden in a crystal ball?
From a
mirror, a sorcerer touches Candice Night. Not everything is so simple. There is
much darkness. And much light in this world. And everything is permeated with
threads of magic. Magic is like air. It's everywhere. It's shown well in the
video. In such a beautiful castle. Where there is so much light. And in some
places, such a beautiful golden light. The light of golden orange autumn. There
was also room for witchcraft. The sorcerer from the mirror almost got into the
castle. There is a lot of mystery here. Ghosts and shadows. You have to
look carefully.
And at night, a huge white moon. So beautiful. Like you've never seen before. Fog. And a white horse. A scene with Candice Night. Stunning fantasy scenes. Candles of all kinds are everywhere in the castle. It's a very magical composition. The heroes never die. Lost in time. Sealed in a crystal ball. Even a flute plays. A tambourine, I think, too. Except for the pop-rock part. Which is what mainly plays here. It's all like in a fantasy book, there in the pages. Or in a crystal ball. Or in this video. Or in this album. As in all their other discs. An excellent illustration about castles and dreams. To step into a dream. And see what's in the crystal ball.
Music listener. From time to time i like to listen to the music. And write about it.
