WinoFly – bright flies and engine refinements
Development of a new game has already begun. In the spirit of an arcade game. Something about Galaga, I think. There will be flies. As the main theme. And the visual design is Windows 3.11. That is, a white background. Black text. And colorful flies like sprite drawings.
The game is dedicated to the Windows 3.11 theme and flies. Soon it will be summer at the dacha. And our friends will wake up. Bugs and flies. As part of this greeting, I created this game. I drew a lot of flies. And flying insects. I counted 70 sprites of all kinds of flies. They differ slightly in shape. And in color palette.
There's
also a player sprite. Also some kind of flying bug or fly. And two bullet-type
sprites. They are these bright blobs. Made of dots. They look like fireworks.
In the game itself, the background will be white. Because it's similar to
Windows 3.11.
The game
will be Galaga-like. This means enemies are above you, and you're below the
screen. You can move left and right and shoot with the spacebar. The primary
action key is the spacebar. There are five enemies in a row. That's one line.
That's the starting concept for the game.
Another
feature will be scaling. This means the original screen is approximately 130 by
170 pixels. But it scales. Double, triple, quadruple, quintuple the screen.
With pixel-by-pixel scaling. There's no anti-aliasing. The pixels are simply
enlarged into larger squares. The font size also increases proportionally. It
all depends on the screen's proportions, from minimum to maximum.
The only thing that will be different is that the smallest screen is in the game itself. There won't be enough room for text with game parameters, like levels, scores, and life force. These text parameters won't fit there. But they will appear on all other screens when zoomed in. Otherwise, everything will be the same. And they will increase in size.
A game
about flies. Such bright and colorful flying creatures. Or flying beetles. Now
it's time to remember them. This is a continuation of the theme of kind little
animals. They live in their own magical world. And they do something there.
The word
"game" is a window and a fly. A window from Windows 3.11. And the
fly—flies are such cheerful creatures. They fly everywhere. And it's a simple
arcade game. I'm still developing the genre of simple arcade games. I've long
dreamed of putting them into production. For example, one such game a week.
With different drawings and sprites and changes to the gameplay. Well, like
art, creative development.
But so far,
there are no such results. This is just the beginning of this development. And
before that, I worked on the game engine. And the basis for this. Once again.
Another step forward. To be honest, I haven't worked out everything in the
engine yet. And this is just a test game. It will be. But it would be possible
to add other sprites and change some of the game dynamics. So that there would
be another game. There's an idea. There are drawings and sprites. For another
game of this kind. But with different drawings and dynamics. Some other
differences.
So now all
efforts are being put into finalizing the engine. This is already a secondary
plan. And the primary one is filling this code with this particular game. About
flies.
Sound is
planned. There are fonts. Specifically, fonts. Last time, it was pictures. With
text. And now fonts. Russian and English text. Optional. Sound. Music. Some
sounds. Yes, this time with sound. This is all within the framework of the
already standard engine for this type of game. And the special feature of this
particular game is the screen scale. The vertical format. And the scale is from
1 to 5. 1 is very small. And 5 is practically a Full HD screen. But only
vertically. There will be plenty to choose from.
