An Elf and a Necromancer – the Elf Chooses the Shortcut
It was a
hot summer. Silence. Only a few insects flew occasionally. And somewhere in the
distance, grasshoppers could be heard. It was scorching hot. The temperature
was over thirty degrees. It was hot. It was truly summer. With bright sunshine.
And a cloudless sky. A very bright day.
The path
was narrow. For one human or an elf. And even for a medium-sized orc. Although
a larger one would be cramped here. Especially not for a giant or a titan. A
Cyclops. There was nothing to do here. The path was sandy. Yellow. And orange.
With small pebbles. And heavily packed.
The fence
was clearly visible. Made of black metal. With patterns. Beyond it were
thickets. Thick, dense thickets. Of trees. And tall grass. No one went there.
Everyone had forgotten about this path. But it was a shortcut. From a huge
garden to the urban part of the city. Which leads into the forest. And wild
lands.
A wide
variety of plants grew here. Lots of grass. And flowers. Everything was
immersed in greenery. An abandoned part of the city. A forgotten part, you
might say. Which isn't even considered a city anymore. The path, fortunately,
is well preserved. It's clear that a lot of people walk along it. Rangers.
Probably. And forest dwellers.
The sun is
shining very brightly. It burns your eyes. And you definitely can't see it. You
only have to raise your head slightly and you can see nothing but blinding
white. It's very hot. A beautiful summer day. And a hot day. Just as it should
be in summer.
An elf is
walking along the road. With sharp, beautiful ears. Which are clearly visible.
From under his long white hair. He looks very handsome. And he is dressed in
beautiful clothes with jewelry. Made of various jewels. He carries a short
dagger, also beautifully decorated. The red stone is especially striking. A
huge red ruby on the hilt of the blade. The blade hangs from a beautiful belt
of dark green fabric.
The elf
wears a dark red cloak. Made of beautiful fabric. The entire fabric sometimes
sparkles with sequins. This is clearly a manifestation of magic. The boots,
although black, have a large number of patterns. Which are interesting to
examine. It seems to depict something in great abundance. Like a whole story.
The elf
wears gloves made of white fabric. The fabric is very light. And his snow-white
skin is visible. In some places.
The path is
very dusty and narrow. Literally enough for one person. However, this is a city
of people. And people don't care about the order and condition of everything
around them as much as elves do. So what can you expect from people? Yes, the
path is shallow and dusty. That's what boots are made for, to walk in.
On the
other side. Also overgrown. Everything here is overgrown. Who would have
doubted it. And the brickwork. Made of old red brick. As if they wanted to
build something big here. But then they didn't do anything. They left it as is.
And they forgot about this place. And the path. And everything grew overgrown
on its own.
There are
thickets and trees to the left and right. Wild forest and grass, you could say.
Everything grows naturally. There are beautiful flowers here and there. The elf
understands flowers. And even has a little flower magic. He recently started
studying them. For fun. Although, maybe it will help him someday.
When you
walk, there's a lot of dust around. Luckily, it's behind you. And that's what
the cloak is for. The sand on the road is very dry and easily rises into the
air. Sometimes the wind can lift it. A thin layer of sand. The path is
quite narrow. It's a short route.
