Uriah Heep – Shadow – In the Green Shadow
Spring is beginning. Slowly, the time of flowers and sun is approaching. The era of the sun is beginning. And the green cover of Uriah Heep's album, Wake the Sleeper, comes to mind. After sleep, flowers awaken. And beautiful rock music is with us again.
All this time, there was a great shadow. And now there's sunlight. A very energetic, sunny rhythm on the electric guitar. And the drums are so ringing. And the synthesizer keys pound in time with the rhythm of the electric guitar. They're more for the electric guitar here. Add some sound to the guitar. Although, yes, there is a synthesizer here. But only to support the electric guitar. And rock guitar. Just the right one. One with a rhythm wound up like a hurricane.
From words to deeds. And immediately, a good rhythm guitar takes center stage. A fast and energetic tempo. Sunshine and summer. At one point at the beginning, the electric guitar fades out a bit and the drums sound. Exactly like drums. Once, twice. And so on several times. But the guitar doesn't move. And then the electric guitar starts sawing away at the rhythm again. Like a chainsaw or an electric instrument. And the singer starts singing a song about a shadow.
I love the
electric guitars here. And the drums are so resonant, almost deafening. The
musicians really nailed it. With the sound. There's an illusion in my mirror.
What an incredibly beautiful line. A highly artistic line opens the piece. I
wish I could find the key. But... a shadow. Nothing but a shadow. Never seen
the light of day. Walking down a sunny road. Out of nowhere. There's also a
cool little synthesizer moment, literally like a whistle for a second.
And the
synthesizer in the background plays chords, a continuous sound. Although the
sound is quite heavy metal. But the theme isn't quite typical heavy metal. And
that's why there are synthesizers here. Although they just go better with the
guitar. There's a cool guitar riff here.
And there's
a moment in the song when the guitar is still rhythmic. But there's less noise
in it. It's just that rhythm. It's like walking. And the lyrics are about the
road. Then the synthesizer whistles. And then it starts again, a nice rock
rhythm. A really cool, hurricane-like sound. The guitar takes the lead. Then
there's room for the drums. Such drum moments. And the singer even sings the
letter O. That's beautiful too!
And then it's time for a solo. A nice rock solo. Just right. Just what you expect. The guitar squeals. The rhythm thunders. And the singer continues singing. Shadow. Nothing but shadow. Oh! Oh! And the drums add these beats. That's the end of the composition. Fast as a match. And also sunny and energetic.
I really
like the photography on the cover of this album. A wonderful green color. So
calming. Like shade on a hot summer day. Everything is green. And you're in the
shade of the trees. And yet, everything is energetic and sunny. Literally step
out of the shade and there it is the hottest summer day. And so it goes, day
after day.
Because this is the time of the sun. Sunlight. And great, positive rock music. And I so wish the song would never end. Rock music never got boring. And it always played. And summer was simply eternal and endless. This is my time. I just want to say it. Reminds me of some wonderful dacha days long ago, when I was younger. An energetic and sunny composition. Even though it is about shade.
Music listener. From time to time i like to listen to the music. And write about it.
