Clan of Xymox – Alice – Darkwave Alice
I've been listening to this band for a long time. Among darkwave bands, they're my favorite. Their albums are consistent, with a good sound. No punk. No unnecessary elements. Just good, dark music. Darkwave, gothic, rock. Electronica. I've listened to some of their albums a lot. Although I haven't listened to all of their albums. I've mostly listened to In Love, We Trust.
And today, here's the album Kindred Spirit. There are a lot of songs on there, all excellent. These are songs by other bands, performed by Clan of Xymox. There's Venus (Shocking Blue), Blue Monday, Question of Time. And other songs. The entire album is composed of songs by other artists. But it's recorded in the style of Clan of Xymox. Rock, electronica, gothic, darkwave, electric guitars. And it's a masterpiece!
For example,
the song "Alice" is from Sisters of Mercy. I listen to that song
often. I also like the idea of Alice in Wonderland. A fairy tale. I really
liked the darkwave stuff too. Dense sound, good bass. A thick wall of sound,
but not rock. More like darkwave. You feel like you're immersed in darkness, in
shadow. The electric guitar rumbles. I really like it. And I really love this
kind of noisy sound. You can't hear individual notes.
Sisters of
Mercy also have something distinctive about them. The bass. It's there. And the
dark sound. It's there. And it fits Clan of Xymox perfectly. The characteristic
strumming is there, too. That's both Sisters of Mercy and the gothic rock genre
in general. And the strumming on the electric guitar, a chord starts and then
fades away for a few bars.
The
vocalist has a fading echo effect. In some places, the end of a phrase echoes.
And the guitar starts to move like waves. Electro. Chords. The bass hums all
the time. And the strings come in. Ringing strings. It creates a mysterious,
mystical, and dark sound. There's a drum machine here too. An electronic,
mechanical sound.
It's a kind of magic. It's a kind of witchcraft. Alice. Alice in Wonderland. Sunlight will appear. Today. For me, it's a version of Alice in Wonderland. But Alice DarkWave. And the chords move like waves on electro. Alice! Aliceissa!!! Don't go crazy! Don't go crazy. At the very end of the song, there are these lines. Well, it's definitely Alice in Wonderland. Only a little gothic. And surreal. There are some moments in the fairy tale, too.
The
music—it's such magic. Witchcraft. Practical magic. And it's all today.
Immersion in sound. You'll have it all today. The sunlight will come. The
music, like fog, completely envelops you. Or like clouds of smoke. A special
musical effect. Like a wizard's magic crystal ball. In which something smokes.
The music
is quite lively. Even like a disco rhythm or Eurodance, only this is dragwave.
Quite danceable, even. It's an interesting genre. Both rock and dance.
The cover
is also interesting. It's like a feather. With white and purple. And yet
everything is done in dark tones. A black texture in the background. And a
feather on the right side. A pleasant black color. Not a blinding white. And a
little backlight. Like a photo lamp for flowers. Slightly blue, purple. It
turned out to be a nice cover. Covers in this genre can be both weird and weird
in a bad way. This one has a good cover. Atmospheric. And laconic. The pen is
so light. With purple corners. And a black tone.
Music listener. From time to time i like to listen to the music. And write about it.
