Alice in the Park – Caterpillars Walk, Alice Walks

The road was wide. And everywhere there was a field. Alice was already tired of this field. Not since she said goodbye to the caterpillar. She hadn't seen anyone else here. It seemed like a couple of small flies flew past. Someone buzzed here and there in the grass. Just a couple of times.

And that's it. Silence. Wind. So calm, as if you were in a dream. And you don't walk, you float. You float along this wide road, like on a river. This attracted Alice for a while. And she continued to move forward. Or in the direction she was going. For Alice, forward means there. And for the caterpillar, it's in the opposite direction.

The grass was tall. And already dry. Dried pillars stood there. And they towered upward. They were yellow. Crimson. Brown. Orange. And yellow shades towards dark. This field has been standing here for a long time. It just stands there.

There, in the distance, a silhouette finally appeared. Alice was already glad about it. Because she was simply walking. And nothing was happening. Just a light breeze. And sometimes an autumn breeze blew. But even a breeze wasn't the most frequent guest here. It was simply quiet. Not a sound. Almost.

The silhouette was approaching strangely. And the weather was a little dark. The sky was cloudy. A dense sky. As if it were autumn. But it was quite warm here. And the silhouette finally became clear to Alice. It was the caterpillar again. Another caterpillar was approaching.

The caterpillar kept coming until it became absolutely clear – it was another caterpillar, as tall as Alice. It was walking on legs. And it had arms. Four arms. And a lot of legs. Yeah. It walked fast. Not like Alice.

Alice wanted to say hello to the caterpillar. But there it was, walking confidently in its own direction. And she didn't think about stopping. The caterpillar just smiled. And passed on. And Alice never got a chance to say hello!

"Everyone's going somewhere!" thought Alice.

"And I'm going somewhere too!" Alice continued her thought.

Again, no one. And the field was turning out to be really big. Only now was Alice beginning to understand this. And you either go forward or backward. It's a long way both ways! Someone appeared in the distance again. They were silhouettes. There were several of them.

Alice walked on. The silhouettes came closer. It was rather boring. They were two caterpillars. They had many legs. And many arms. And eyes. Such big eyes. The caterpillars decided to pass Alice again. And they didn't say anything.

"They must be in a hurry!" thought Alice.

"I must be in a hurry too!" thought Alice.

The field went on and on. And the sky was dark. With clouds. Here and there was a gap. And it was beautiful. It was getting a little darker. Like before a storm. And so quiet. But here it's dry everywhere. There shouldn't be rain.

The silhouettes appeared in the distance again. Alice didn't even expect them to speak. She simply walked forward.

"Moving forward, that's the most important thing!" Alice said confidently to herself.

And she calmly continued moving. She tried to skip a little. To make it more fun. She walked calmly.

This time, three caterpillars passed by. One of them winked at Alice. And all the caterpillars quickly moved in their own direction. Alice, too, continued walking along this vast field.
