Alice in the Park – Dry Grass All Around and a New Forest
Alice walked along a path. She chose a way. And now she's following the trail. Yellow autumn leaves all around. And a bunch of half-withered autumn plants. Such yellow grass. Already dry. And some blades of grass almost like sticks. Everything changes so much here.
'How
everything changes here,' Alice thought to herself.
'Where did
I turn?' Alice thought. Some doubts seemed to be creeping into her head. These
are new friends.
'This is
what new friends are like! These doubts!' Alice thought.
'Perhaps I
should turn the other way after all? "Or no, everything's all right,"
Alice still hesitated. And she walked further and further along this path.
The path
led somewhere else. And the further... Everything seemed autumnal. Somehow new
and autumnal. Of course, this was a new turn. And everything beyond it was new.
Alice's thoughts were all over the place as she walked. She thought about
caterpillars. Green ones. About ants. But she'd seen plenty of those already.
About leaves. And there were plenty of leaves, too. And this captured her
consciousness.
Sometimes,
whole branches lay strewn along the path. Someone had clearly left them there.
They certainly couldn't have fallen here on their own. The branches were all
different. And already leafless. But some branches were very branchy. And some
were just like sticks. Almost straight.
"Who
came up with all this?" Alice asked herself out loud. Knowing that no one
else was here but her. She almost tripped over one of the branches as she
walked. But the branches are small and don't cause much harm. You can't even
trip over them. It's just that sometimes there's a whole pile of them on the
road. But most often, it's just one branch at a time. And then it all repeats
again. Another branch. As if the path is identical and repeating. Like a
fractal calculation.
And now
Alice sees a turn. The path turns again. Before this, she was walking in a
straight line. And then another turn. Alice is already confused which way it
goes. It's good that there are no forks yet. And here it is, like an exit from
the fractal. An exit from the cycle. The cycle is over.
Alice was
thinking about the cycle. It really fascinated her. Because there is a lot of
the same grass here. And the path went in a straight line. As if someone
deliberately threw twigs here to break the cycle. To end the cycle.
And now the grass is autumnal too. So yellow. Dry. And high. And a path. The forest transformed slightly, taking on another aspect of autumn. And a breeze blew. Quite cool. Alice even felt a little chill for a few seconds. Overall, it's warm here. But the breeze can be chilly.
The grass grew. And it was tall. It was already drying in this spot. And everything here is so yellow. And dark yellow.
"Path, path, where do you lead?" Alice began to sing a cheerful song. First slower, and then a little faster. More fun that way.
"Oh!
Oh, oh! I'm even making up a song!" Alice said cheerfully. And she was
already laughing.
"Path,
path, where do you lead?" Alice decided to return to her musical exercises
again. She was a musician, after all. Then Alice remembered. And an
astrophysicist and a musician. And a reader of fantasy books. And Alice in
Wonderland.
