What the Summer of 2025 Was Like – A Summer Resident's Memories 2025

The dacha. It's such a wonderful place. It's like a summer garden. It has summer weather. The sun shines there. The grass grows there. And it's so wonderful to spend a weekend there. A visit to the dacha. A longing for summer and sunshine. And there are flowers and grass. And May tea. My favorite. Everything summery. And so bright and beautiful.

Now on a winter day, I increasingly recall the dacha days of this summer. The year is ending. And winter is outside. I have many photos from summer. And I'm immediately in a good mood. Some memories. Today, about the dacha and summer. Continuing with the theme: How nice it is at the dacha.

Here's summer. A wonderful time. Summer is already behind us. And I can say something about summer. It was unusual for me. I'm used to it always being hot in the summer. And running in shorts. But this time there was a Baltic cyclone. And that leads to a cool summer. Not always. It was sunny and hot, too. But there were periods of cold. And cool.

For example. Gray skies. And drizzle. And so on, day after day. It was cold sometimes. So cold that it was uncomfortable to wear shorts. Or maybe even just barely. I remember that summer. Falling asleep in the house. And realizing it had been cool all day. And worrying about what it would be like by evening. How much colder it would get. Sometimes it rained for a long time. It could start in the evening.

So, you look out the window—and it's like spring or autumn. As I called it. Depending on the weather. Well, more or less warm. But cool. You can wear shorts. That's the main sign of summer. And the drizzle, for example, is so light. It lasts for hours.

I remember that kind of weather very well. Gray skies. With medium-thick clouds. Here and there, a break in the sky. Otherwise, a dark, bluish color. And in some places, even darker. It happened. And there were warm days, too. Summer just the way you want it. Sunshine. A clear sky, or with white, summery clouds. Warm. Or hot. These are the days I look forward to most in summer.

I have a table and chair in my little house. And Maysky tea. One pack lasts the whole summer. Just right. A summer gift to myself. Tea with such a summery, sunny name. It has such a red cover. Sunny. And cheerful.

And a laptop. That summer, it was my white computer. A laptop. Which I sat at for a long time, like my main operating system. For Windows 8, it's a fast and nimble machine. An Acer Aspire V13. I had some games on it. Some software. I mostly wrote for my blog there. And I didn't even play much. That's how I remember it. Sitting at the table and writing. Almost like a writer. Which is nice. I dreamed. I dreamed, as they say, of writing something in my life. Fantasy, mysticism, or sci-fi are better. But overall, we'll see. The blog is good too.

And I've done some good programming there a couple of times. I've solved programming problems. But only a couple of times. Just when it was raining. Or cold. And I'd sit and solve a problem. It was a blue screen. And QB64. A version of BASIC. It runs well on Windows 8. And on Windows 11, too. Convenient.

Then I played games too. But not many. I remember the first part of Heroes of Might and Magic. Beautiful fantasy. A vibrant world. I played the first map. But I never finished it. I played very cautiously. And somehow I lost the initiative on the map. And I was playing on the easy difficulty level. So, of course, it was still possible to complete the map. But it would have taken a lot of time. The opponent works like clockwork. In the game. That's the conclusion I came to. I was thinking about starting over.

And then I played Warcraft 3 for the first time. I haven't played a game like this. But I've heard a lot about it. There are three races. It's a fantasy fantasy. So I started trying it out. I was hooked. Beautiful graphics. And I went through the tutorial. How it plays. To understand. I really liked the game. I even recommended it to my brother.

There's a lot of story. Lots of action. It's like there are characters, like in an RPG. They have magic and abilities. And there are units. Like in a real-time strategy. And it's all in a fantasy world. Day and night cycle. And beautiful views. A stream. Grass. Very cinematic views. Lots of story. Scripted scenes.

Then, at the dacha, I also worked on the garden. I've written a lot about the garden. That's my plus. And my magical place. The point of magic is the garden. I managed to grow my own garden. There are lots of flowers. Asters. Lots of them. Two rows. Marigolds. Two flowers, but large ones. And yellow ones. Two suns in the center. And the Asters are the most colorful.

I planted lupines. They're still green. A whole row. Such green bushes. Quite large. I also planted sprites to the side. A package from last year. They've all grown. Short and colorful. Different colors. And at the end of the garden – Vesyolye Rebyata (Joyful Fellows). This is a type of dahlia. Lots of them have grown. Also colorful and tall. And large flowers. And they're growing well!

So I decided to plant more of them. And some food. Radishes. Lettuce. And even corn. Which has even grown.

That's how I ended up with a full-fledged garden in front of my house.
