Bit Dungeon – a cute roguelike
I found another game for myself. Also small. And compact. So small that it fits in a window. And it's so cozy to play in the evening. It's about dungeons. A roguelike game about dungeons. So typical. And that's what's so good about it. We wander through a dungeon. Collect items. Destroy monsters. Level up. And that's it.
Very nice graphics. Everything is so beautifully drawn. The floor, the monsters. Some items. Basically, there's a class of games called roguelikes. These small games. With cute graphics. This game is exactly that type.
I was very
surprised by the graphics because the second part has different graphics. And
there's a full screen. And here, in a window, there are different graphics. The
first two parts are very different from each other. And now let's move on to
the game itself.
You play as this little guy. He has equipment points. They're on the bottom right. Four dice. You put an item from a box or chest in them. You just drag and drop the chest onto a square. It says what type it is. It could be armor, weapons, boots, or cleats.
Besides items, there's also a resource called black coins. You can buy something cool with them later. You come across these vendors who stand there like little people and offer to buy something. But it's very expensive. These coins are exactly what you need. For example, you need to collect 1,000 of these coins for something.
So you go through a door. And there's a room. A small one. And the room has more doors. They all close. And monsters appear. Until you deal with the monsters, you can't go any further. Once all the monsters are dead, a key will drop. Take the key. What else can you do? And then choose any door from the untested ones. The tested doors will open themselves. Since you've already been in them. So you explore a small labyrinth.
There are rooms where you simply walk in. Kill the monsters. And that's it. One door. You go through it. It opens. But you get a key or find something valuable. And all that's left is to go back. The key has already been collected. You don't need to open open doors twice with the key. And there's a minimap above.
The monsters are fun. You find all sorts of items. Typical, good gameplay. Just what you need. You go through rooms. And then you move on to the boss. The boss is a large enemy. Typically motionless and huge. Not the size of the entire room, but very large compared to the other objects. You can easily run around it. But the boss isn't very maneuverable. So you just take it down.
And then,
like, the next level. A new labyrinth. A new floor. And it has its own visual
design, by the way. I've only made it to the third such labyrinth so far. Its
own visual look. Its own monsters. Everything is beautifully drawn. A very nice
game for an evening! Or maybe the smartest one in the office is playing. A game
in a window. Overall, a nice roguelike. Compact. And that makes it
extremely valuable.
Playing little games. From time to time i like to play videogames. And write about it.
