Sacred Gold – Green Plains for a Mage
I started playing a decent action RPG. One with a big world. Beautiful graphics. Isometric. I remember that game. It was around a long time ago. And I really liked it too. You run around open areas. Fields. Desert. Lots of monsters. You level up. I really appreciate this genre of games. This type of game is great for relaxation! It's a great way to unwind! You forget about everything else when you're running around those fields.
This game
is also why I started playing more or less regularly. Now, this year, I can
immerse myself in the game's world on weekends. Run around. 20 minutes, 40
minutes, a whole hour. Several sessions. Friday, Saturday, Sunday. The gameplay
began.
The game is
global. It has a very large game world. I've been playing here for a while now.
In fact, I'm already approaching the desert. And it all starts with a field. A
green field. Trees. A bit of forest. Bandits and goblins. This is the starting
location. I spent several hours here, leveling up my character. Completed
various quests. It's more interesting this way.
Run off and do something in such-and-such a place on the map. There's a convenient map and a journal of all the quests. Everything is beautifully written there. And the map shows where to go. The game is quite well thought out. You can look at and study the map, everything is where. And the directions for different quests are marked. It's convenient. And the journal describes everything: what to do and the essence of the quest. Also convenient.
It's such a vibrant fantasy game. Goblins, elves, demons, vampires, gnomes. All kinds of magic. An interesting fantasy world, fun to explore. The graphics are beautiful and vibrant. There's a day/night cycle. Lots of objects. Trees, grass. Houses. Characters. There are goblins here. There are several types of them. There are bandits there. They're also dressed differently. There's a cave there. And there's a quest nearby. Maybe you need to find something in the cave too.
The quests aren't difficult. But you still have to get there first. And to do that, you need to level up your character. I'm already a level 10 battle mage. And the enemies are getting easier. It's easier to go a little further into the forest. When you kill them, it's no big deal. You're transported to a certain point. And that's it. All your items are with you. Consider it no losses. It's convenient. At first, I died a lot.
I play a battle mage. That means I can use a little bit of weapons and magic. I need that combination. It's more interesting that way. There's a warrior class – the gladiator. It's a real whirlwind. There are other classes. There are lots of characters to choose from. About 5-6. That's a lot!
So, I use magic. I've chosen fire magic as my main one for now. Quests often drop spells, which you can learn. You learn a spell, and then you can use it. There's a cooldown. You cast it and then wait for it to cool down. And you need to learn new spells. And to do that, you need to find them. Well, they're often given out for quests.
And I also
use the sword skill. I swing a sword, too. At first, I used a two-handed sword.
But I decided that for a gladiator, large swords would be best. And for a
battle mage, I started taking something like a short sword or a dagger. This
falls under the Longsword skill. Convenient.
I landed a
couple of sword strikes and threw a fireball. It's already recharging pretty
quickly. And it does this every time.
There are
some unique spells here, and some interesting ones. You can turn enemies to
stone. And then hit them. There are goblin mages who won't let you move. It's
fun trying out different spells. There are also lots of weapons and items. All
kinds of protective rings. I have a lot of them. Or rather, they even increase
my attack power. Like 3-5 damage.
The game is like a second Diablo. You have to run a lot. Explore the map. It's a nice field. There are dungeons. Well, there aren't many at the beginning, but they are there. That makes it even more interesting. You can enter houses. There are merchants. Healing items cost 500, I think. It's quite noticeable at first. Although I already have 70,000 coins in the game. Now. So, whenever possible, I need to buy healing items from merchants. And the spacebar is an instant heal!
You can upgrade your weapons at the blacksmith, adding extra damage. There's a bunch of magical gear scattered around. Magic rings. Things with magical properties. And you're constantly running around the area, completing quests and leveling up. Levels go up quickly at first. Then the leveling rate slows.
And so here I am, happily running through these green fields. Picking up things. Maybe I'll find something useful. Something magical. And exploring this interesting game world.
Playing little games. From time to time i like to play videogames. And write about it.
Dima Link is making retro videogames, apps, a little of music, write stories, and some retro more.
